Thank you for your interest! We require adopters to live within 2 hours of Seattle, WA. We announce online when a kitten(s) or mom cat becomes available. We no longer have a waitlist, so please pay close attention to our site to see when adoptions are open. You can apply here.
After months of trying the waitlist approach, we found that once we were finally able to reach out to people who were next on the waitlist, they had already adopted! To save time, we have discontinued the waitlist.
While we understand you may feel a special love for a kitten you have come to love online, there are kittens that need homes in every state that are just as important! Washington is one of the most highly adopting states, which means we desperately need others to adopt in their own states.
Each kitten in Ashley’s Kitten Academy receives the medical care necessary to give them a great start at life.
Medical care includes flea treatment, dewormer, their first FVRCP vaccine, microchip, and spay/neuter. Additionally, each mom is FIV/FELV tested as well as one kitten from each litter.
While in our care, they may need additional antibiotics, eye drops, probiotics, surgeries, etc. This will be taken care of before adoptions.
The adoption fee for one kitten is $150, a pair is $300.
An adult cat over the age of 6 months is $100
Please feel free to email us for advice at ashleyskittenacademy@gmail.com. If this is an urgent matter, please seek a veterinarian or open shelter/rescue like Seattle Humane. Ashley’s Kitten Academy is a small organization that has very limited space and can not guarantee admission.
Kittens do best when they have a friend! Please read this article for more information.
This was an incredibly difficult decision for our rescue, but one made out of love for our kittens. We fully believe seniors deserve the love of a companion animal, but we personally recommend a senior cat. Kittens can potentially live 20+ years.
As a small rescue, we do not have the ability to take cats back as easily as shelters do. So this decision was also made with that in mind. While we appreciate that applicants’ children say they will take their parent’s animals in if anything were to happen, 10 years from now, a lot of things can change and that statement is often no longer true. We have adopted out kittens to 70+ before and they’ve been returned due to the owner’s health issues, kitten nails scratching thinner skin, being too “wild”, etc.
Please know this was not an easy decision to make and if you truly believe you are ready for kittens as a senior, please visit one of the many local shelters that would have more availability to take them back if needed. Thank you!
